What is a Neighborhood Association?
A neighborhood association is a group of residents, businesses, and community partners who come together to address and work on common issues and concerns within their neighborhood. These voluntary organizations share a desire to create neighborhood identity and promote engagement among neighbors and those dedicated to the neighborhood. Neighborhood associations represent the position of the collective neighborhood and provide input to the City Council, Boards and Commissions, and City staff on issues affecting neighborhoods.
Key benefits of a neighborhood association include:
· Community Engagement
· Issue Advocacy
· Creating Relationships with Neighbors
· Neighborhood Pride
· Access to Resources and Information
What is the difference between a Neighborhood Association and Homeowners’ Association?
Neighborhood associations are different than homeowners' associations.
Voluntary: Neighborhood associations are voluntary organizations of residents, businesses, and community partners working together to improve the quality of life within the defined neighborhood. Neighborhood associations are community-minded and focus on the intrinsic sense of belonging to a community.
Mandatory: Homeowners associations are created to maintain common areas and enforce private deed restrictions; members are charged mandatory dues to belong.
What are the benefits of belonging to the Cheatom Park neighborhood?
Our mission is to foster a connected, inclusive, and empowered community by preserving our rich history, celebrating our residents, promoting safety, beautification, economic growth, and opportunities for all neighbors to engage in meaningful activities that enhance the quality of life in Cheatom Park.
Meetings are held monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Meetings are held at 6:00 p.m. at the DMACC Urban Campus, 1100 7th Street, Building 7, Room 170.
I’m reaching out with exciting news!
Our new, free mobile recreation program, Park N Play, is launching this spring, and we believe Cheatom Park is a prime location for it.
Park N Play brings the fun right to your neighborhood with a van full of games, sports equipment, crafts, and more for all ages. Instead of having people travel to parks with programs, we bring recreation to them—ensuring that everyone, from kids to seniors, has access to play and enjoyment!
We would greatly appreciate if you could share this information in your neighborhood association and to your residents how you see fit. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will send you the schedule in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
